WirePOLITICS: Petri to hold town hall meetings

State Rep. Scott Petri will hold two upcoming town hall meetings to share information concerning Gov. Tom Wolf’s proposed state budget and House alternatives to the governor’s plan, and to gather public input on how Pennsylvania citizens would like to see their tax money spent.

“Town hall meetings give my constituents a voice in the legislative process,” Petri said. “I hold these meetings periodically to gauge public sentiment on pressing issues, and the budget is no small matter. The governor is proposing to spend nearly $5 billion more in next year’s budget, and that would have a significant impact on taxpayers.

“At these town hall meetings, I will put information before the citizens of my legislative district and encourage them to share their insight into what our budget priorities should be. “Listening is critical to my effectiveness as a legislator. These town hall meetings will enable me to gather input and to respond to questions regarding the budget and other important legislative issues. This interaction will be of great value to me as the June 30 budget deadline nears.”

Petri’s town hall meetings are scheduled for Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m., at Upper Makefield Fire Company №71, 1221 Taylorsville Road in Washington Crossing; and Thursday, June 11, at 7 p.m., at New Hope Eagle Fire Company, 46 North Sugan Road in New Hope.
