The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library was recognized by Bristol Borough Council and Mayor Pat Sabatini for its 50 years of service to the community.

At the council meeting last night, Grundy Foundation Executive Director Gene Williams and Library Administrator Dana Barber accepted the proclamation and plaque, which noted the library as “A beloved and vital education institution … that has remained true to its mission of of opening doors, inspiring minds and connecting the community.”

The library has been celebrating its 50th anniversary with programming since the spring, with a How-To Festival, family-friendly birthday bash and a night of Bristol Quizzo. The festivities will culminate in the exhibit, “50 Years of Service: Celebrating the History of the Grundy Library.”

The public is invited to a free reception on Oct. 6 for a first glimpse of the exhibit. It highlights the history and impact of the Grundy Library, Museum and Foundation on Bristol Borough and its surrounding communities — efforts Sabatini noted after the proclamation.

“The Grundy Foundation really cares about what happens in this town,” he said. “The foundation has done wonderful things for Bristol Borough.”
